Long before I owned my first computer and began my journey in transitioning into a Digital Artist that I am today, I made my art the old fashion way. Even though we are living in an era where the next generation of artists will more likely grow up learning how to use Photoshop before learning how to draw, I still strongly believe that the traditional art is the most important foundation for artists in all areas. It is an important process in assisting one to develop a better sense of composition, form, and perspective. Although the tools I use nowadays to create my art are merely a keyboard, a mouse, and a pen tablet, I still rely heavily on the skills I have gained in the traditional art to help me accomplish my goals. Having this knowledge in the traditional art enables me to create my art even when all the available resources presented to me are just a pencil and a piece of paper.
